Lilla's baby boy born in Aug.------ A pig's only defense is to be aware of their surroundings.  They are used to being "dinner' for other animals in the wild so this is a primal fear ingrained in them. They have a terrific keen sense for possible trouble. This includes being chased, picked up without any reasonable amount of time to get to trust you and a reason to trust you.  Their most inner being tells them to stop, listen, then run and hide when fear is in the air.  This can be anything from a noise to someone standing over them or approaching them the side instead of getting down to more their level and staying in there small line of sight.  Pigs are not able to see like you and I. A person can startle them from coming at them from a direction that is not direct or looming over them where sight is also limited and it brings up the their deepest fears of animals who are larger and aggressive towards them. Be prepared to know and understand pigs before you add one to your family.  They will amaze you once you know them but until then, learn all that you can.
